Viet Nam Minister of Education and Training meets with UNESCO Director-General
Ha Noi, 21 June – Today, the Viet Nam Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan held a meeting with UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova at the Ministry of Education and Training.
The meeting is one in a series of meetings during Ms. Bokova’s official visit to Viet Nam to meet with high level officials at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the two discussed Viet Nam’s reform of the education and training system and curriculum and the emphasis on provision of equitable access to lifelong quality education for all. The UNESCO Director-General praised the Ministry for targeting disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, especially ethnic minorities and people living with disabilities, in its policies and programmes, and congratulated the Minister for his recent appointment as Chair of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization.
UNESCO’s long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training has led to significant achievements within the framework of UNESCO’s support to the country in its efforts to build an inclusive, resilient and sustainable learning society.
The two highlighted results of cooperation between Viet Nam and UNESCO in many fields, including education and training, over the years, and committed to further promote relevant and effective cooperation.
