What can Nepal’s higher education system do for Education for All? Workshop to start on 6 December
A two-day ‘Collaborative workshop: a three-step activity to envisage Higher Education for Education for All locally’ will be held in Kathmandu from 6 to 7 December 2012. It is being organized by the International Association of Universities (IAU), in association with the Tribhuvan University.
With the approaching 2015 target date to achieve the Education for All (EFA) goals, and despite much progress, gaps and challenges still persist, necessitating all stakeholders’ contribution. In this context, the higher education has the expertise that could be used to attain quality education for all.
The collaborative workshop has been developed to examine and identify how best to strengthen higher education’s contribution and partnership at the local level.
Over 50 invited participants will collectively explore and develop concrete tools to draw higher education more effectively into local EFA activities and to make higher education an effective EFA partner. Participants will be high-level members from the higher education community, ministries, local educational bodies, nongovernmental organizations, schools, and other EFA stakeholders.
The IAU was created at the initiative of UNESCO more than 60 years ago. Since then, it has very close formal relations with UNESCO.
