UNESCO GCC and Yemen Office celebrates International Jazz Day

The 2018 International Jazz Day will be marked in Doha, Qatar on April 30th with an evening jazz concert at Oryx Rotana Hotel.

In partnership with the Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha, UNESCO will host a celebration of jazz as a universal language of peace on International Jazz Day. Presented each year on 30 April, UNESCO celebrates International Jazz Day to encourage and highlight intercultural dialogue and understanding through jazz. For the 2018 edition of International Jazz Day, Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation) will serve as the host, but events in over 190 countries around the world will be organised.

The 2018 Global Concert will be webcast on JazzDay.com and Facebook beginning at 19:00 GMT+3 / 4 pm US Eastern.

UNESCO Doha office in partnership with Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha will join the world wide celebrations of jazz. The performance of a popular jazz band Funky Monkey will take place in the evening of 30 April at Oryx Rotana Jazz Club, starting at 9 pm. The band Funky Monkey will perform a variety of jazz songs, from old time jazz classics to billboard hits. This multicultural band mirrors the values celebrated on this special day, highlighting jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.
