Sema Tanguiane (ex-USSR)
Mandate: 1975 - 1988
Born in 1926, Mr Tanguiane started at UNESCO in 1960 as Programme Specialist in the Education Clearinghouse Division. In January 1965, he was appointed Director of the Division for Human Rights and Education for international understanding in the Education Sector.
He also worked as director of research at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and as lecturer at the State Pedagogical Institute for Foreign Languages in Moscow.
Mr Tanguiane is the author of studies and essays on general problems of education.
