Water Education in Arab States

The first Regional Flagship Project on Water for ASPnet schools in the Arab Region is coordinated by the United Arab Emirates National Commission for UNESCO in close cooperation with the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi. It was launched on 12-13 December 2006 in Abu Dhabi in the presence of ASPnet National Co-ordinators and teachers from most of the participating countries.

This is the latest ASPnet regional initiative to contribute towards the implementation of the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014)and the attainment of the MDGs. Because water is such a precious commodity in the Arab States, it was decided to initiate a project focusing on the importance of access to water and its preservation.
