World Heritage Education Project

UNESCO/ASPnet

The UNESCO Special Project “Young People's Participation in World Heritage Preservation and Promotion”, launched in 1994, gives young people a chance to voice their concerns and to become involved in the protection of the world’s natural and cultural heritage.

Through the integration of World Heritage education into secondary school curricula, students learn about World Heritage sites, about the history and traditions of other cultures and their own, as well as about ecology and the importance of protecting biodiversity.
