Education World Forum Highlights Keys to Success
“Learning from the Best for a World of Change” is the theme of the Education World Forum taking place in London from 9 to 11 January 2012, at which UNESCO’s Director-General Irina Bokova will give a keynote address and present the ICT Competency Framework for Teachers. Close to sixty education ministers are confirmed to participate in this annual global summit, which will examine where rapid progress is taking place in education and showcase effective education policies and strategies that are driving success.
In her address on 10 January, the Director-General will stress the need for ‘fit to size’ solutions: “Progress is more than a question of money. We need to match capacity with needs (…), skills with the world of work (…). We must make the most of innovation.”
The Forum is hosted by the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA), with support from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department for Education, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and several industry partners.
During her visit Ms Bokova will meet with several industry partners to discuss the launch of a Global Alliance of Corporate Partners for Education. The aim is to strengthen the engagement of the private sector in education through policy dialogue, technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and advocacy.
