UNESCO’s ADG/ED on flexible learning for inclusive education
“By formulating, developing and applying policies that explicitly address equity and inclusion in education, governments are taking a critical step to building stronger, more harmonious societies,” states Qian Tang, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education in an article for the Commonwealth Ministers reference Book.
Mr Tang outlines a range of strategies for achieving rights-based inclusive education for all children.
Mr Tang argues for the design and implementation of policies and programmes taking into account the ‘4 As’ principle of the rights-based approach to education: availability, accessibility, acceptability and adaptability. He recommends increased synergies between formal, non-formal and informal education. and improved knowledge about educational marginalization through monitoring and assessment.
