Coverage of UNESCO Director-General's official visit to Senegal (13-15 February 2013)
The Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs Irina BOKOVA, came to Dakar, Senegal on an official visit from 13-15 February 2013. It was her second official visit to this country, since her election in September 2009 as the head of UNESCO.
During the visit Ms Bokova met with the highest national authorities including an audience with the Head of State, President Macky Sall.
The Director-General also took part in a dinner-debate on 'Culture and Development' and participated in the dinner hosted by the Government on the occasion of her visit. Her speeches are available on this page.
During her visit Ms Bokova also participated in the launch of a new coordination mechanism for Education for All in sub-Saharan Africa, which aims at facilitating the assistance to African countries in their final push towards the EFA goals by 2015.
Finally, she visited the project PAJEF (Projet d'alphabétisation des jeunes filles et femmes) in Pikine, a poor suburb of Dakar.
