UNESCO works with the following key partners in the field of teacher education:

International Labour Organization (ILO)
UNESCO works with the ILO to promote the 1966 and 1997 Recommendations Concerning the Status of Teachers as well as to commemorate World Teachers' Day annually on 5 October.

Education International (EI) 
Education International supports UNESCO’s efforts to improve the status and working conditions of teachers, particularly in terms of its mobilization around World Teachers' Day.

Commonwealth of Learning (COL)
UNESCO works with COL creating frameworks and tools for quality assurance of teacher education.

African Union
The AU implements the Second Decade of Education for Africa, in which teacher development is a key component that UNESCO supports through its Teacher Training Initiative for Sub-Saharan Africa (TTISSA).
