The priority areas of TTISSA are addressed jointly by UNESCO Headquarters via the Section for Teacher Education, the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Africa (BREDA), the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), and UNESCO Field Offices.
Section for Teacher Education (ED/HED/TED)
ED/HED/TED provides the overall conceptualization, leadership and advocacy for TTISSA.
The Regional office for Education in Africa (BREDA)
BREDA, located in Dakar, supervises and coordinates implementation across the Region and plays a key role in advocacy at both regional and sub-regional levels.
The International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA)
IICBA, located in Addis Ababa, carries out specialized research and capacity development in the area of teacher education, distance education and ICTs in education; school leadership training workshops as well as research in key teacher issues and training, pedagogy, ICTs in education, HIV and AIDS and life skills education.
The Sub-Saharan Africa Field Offices
Field Offices are responsible for implementing and executing TTISSA in the country(ies) for which they are responsible. They work alongside the Government and other stakeholders to support country priorities.
