TTISSA’s ability to effectively engage with other key stakeholders working in Africa, most specifically in the field of teachers and their education is essential to ensure it is well-designed and successfully implemented.

 

African Union 
TTISSA works within the framework of the African Union 2nd Decade of Education for Africa. Areas of focus for the 2nd Decade working group on Teacher Development, Education and Training include teacher education using Distance Learning technologies, research and development in pedagogy and education and developing teachers in Science, Mathematics, Technology and ICT, which are also areas of focus of TTISSA.

New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) 
NEPAD is designed to address the current challenges facing the African continent and develop an integrated socio-economic framework for Africa and is the implementing agency for the 2nd Decade of Education for Africa.

Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) 
TTISSA is working closely with ADEA on research and support to teacher policy development, most particularly with the Working Group on the Teaching Profession. ADEA was a co-organizer of the Teacher Education Policy Forum for Sub-Saharan Africa held in Tunis in November 2008.

African Development Bank (ADB)
The ADB hosted the Teacher Education Policy Forum for Sub-Saharan Africa held in Tunis in November 2008 and is supporting TTISSA more broadly through its work in higher education.

World Bank

The World Bank is a main source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries,  regrouping two unique development institutions owned by 185 member countries—the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). Furthermore, TTISSA has initiated collaboration with the Bank on support to policy development in Africa.

Commonwealth of Learning (COL)
COL is an intergovernmental organization created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning/distance education knowledge, resources and technologies which helps developing nations improve access to quality education and training. TTISSA has engaged in collaborations with COL in the field of Quality Assurance for teacher education.

Commonwealth Secretariat
The Commonwealth Secretariat is working with TTISSA in a variety of areas, including policy development, dissemination of the Commonwealth Teacher Recruitment Protocol, a study on in-service teacher education and its hosting of the ADEA Working Group on the Teaching Profession.  Teacher Education.

Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa (TESSA)
TESSA is a research and development programme that provides Open Educational Resources to support teachers in the classroom. TTISSA and TESSA share information and are exploring other avenues for collaboration.
