Inter-provincial Forum on ECCE, was organized by UNESCO in collaboration with UNICEF and Aga Khan Foundation in Islamabad. About 100 educationists from Islamabad and Provincial Departments of Education, representatives of donors, and NGOs participated and evolved recommendations for promotion of ECCE and achievement of EFA targets. Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Mr Mir Hazar Khan Bajarani, inaugurated this Forum, whereas Federal Minister for Professional and Technical Training chaired concluding session and delivered concluding address. 10 Govt. organizations, NGOs, including UNICEF and UNESCO organized an exhibition of ECCE materials at the venue of the meeting, which remained centre of attention for the educationists.
A Media Forum on EFA was organized in Press Club Islamabad. This Media Forum was supported by UNESCO and organized by the implementation partner, Pakistan Association for Continuing and Adult Education (PACADE). Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, journalists, and civil society organizations (CSOs) attended this Media Forum. UNESCO made key presentation on status of EFA and strategic actions need to be taken.
Another Media Forum on EFA-ECCE was organized at Press Club, Lahore (Punjab). This was also supported by UNESCO and convened by PACADE. UNESCO made a presentation on EFA and ECCE in Punjab province. Media Forum on EFA in Lahore was actively participated by educationists, media persons, and CSO. Secretary, Literacy and NFBE, Dr. Pervez Ahmad Khan delivered the opening remarks.
Advocacy Messages for Public: Banners containing advocacy messages on EFA, ECCE, right to education and girls education were displayed in the city. Similarly, advocacy messages were shown on 4 big electronic screens in Islamabad for 10 days, about 200 times per day. This activity was also sponsored jointly by UNESCO and UNICEF.
