The World Conference on the Right to and Rights in Education

The World Conference on the Right to and Rights in Education , 26-30 November 2004) was organized by the European Association for Education Law and Policy (ELA) in collaboration with UNESCO. The World Conference brought together Education Law and Policy Associations in different countries and regions.

The Conference produced the Declaration of Amsterdam which delineates education in all its forms as the necessary tool for developing individual human capital. The Declaration regards key areas such as education as a human right, access and equity in education, the right and the obligation to be educated, the cost of education, the ensuring of equal educational opportunities, safety in education, and religion in education.
