UNESCO Global Forum on the uses and misuses of university rankings (16-17 May)
There has been an explosion in rankings of universities in the last two decades. Originally a consumer tool, rankings now create intense competition and influence everyone from policy-makers to employers and students. Headquarters, Paris, 16-17 May).
To better understand the impact of rankings on public policy and public opinion, UNESCO is holding a Global Forum on “Rankings and Accountability in Higher Education: Uses and Misuses” (UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, 16-17 May).
Among other activities, participants will examine a selection of existing rankings and seek clarification of their methodology, purposes and uses.
