25 November: UNESCO forum on new approaches to science education

A forum on the theme “New Approaches to Science Education: What Role for UNESCO?” will take place on Wednesday, 25 November from 3:00 to 5:30 pm in UNESCO Headquarters (room XI), 7 place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris, France.The forum is open to the public.

Invited panelists are author and physicist Christophe Galfard and Edith Saltiel, former director of “La main à la pâte” an initiative launched by Nobel Prizewinner Georges Charpak to promote hands-on science for young children.

Among the questions addressed will be: How can we actively engage more young people in the sciences and prepare them for future scientific careers? How can we reinforce quality science education and make it available to the largest number possible? What innovative approaches and curriculum content are available to enhance scientific pedagogy? How can the training of science teachers be upgraded? How can UNESCO contribute to national policy development to make science education a priority?

The forum will be followed by an open discussion with the audience. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and French.

The UNESCO Future Forum and the Future Lecture series are part of the Foresight Programme of UNESCO which aims to foster reflection on key future-oriented issues in the domains of the Organization.
