The Director-General signs an agreement for a UNESCO Chair on ICTs in Library Studies in Sofia
On 20 November, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova and the Rector of the State University of Library Studies and Information Technologies in Sofia, Professor Stoyan Dentchev, signed an agreement establishing a UNESCO Chair on ICTs in Library Studies, Education and Cultural Heritage at the State University.
“Thanks to this Chair, I look forward to a very productive exchange of ideas, resources and good practices that will lead to new perspectives about education, culture, and sustainability,” said the Director-General.
The purpose of the Chair is to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation on library studies, education and cultural heritage. It will facilitate collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in Bulgaria and elsewhere in Europe, in Asia and the Pacific, as well as in other regions of the world.
