Kizuna – send a card to a Japanese schoolchild before 31 July!
There is still time to join UNESCO’s solidarity campaign for the Japanese children who were affected by the earthquake and tsunami of 11 March. Just send a postcard with a message or picture symbolizing friendship. It will be sent on to a schoolchild in the affected regions. So far, over 5,500 postcards have been sent from more than 30 countries.
UNESCO chose the word “Kizuna” for this campaign, which means “solidarity” in Japanese. The campaign ends on 31 July.
Postcards should be sent to:
Sendai UNESCO Association
1-2-2 Oomachi, Aoba-ku Sendai City, 980-0804 Japan
The closest UNESCO regional office. List of regional offices.
Messages should include the sender’s name, sex, age and address and status (student or teacher) and a picture or message in Japanese or an official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).
