New UNESCO Papers on Mobile Learning in Africa and the Middle East
In South Africa cooperation between the government, mobile carriers, Nokia, and individual schools and teachers has allowed over 25,000 learners to improve their math skills by accessing interactive exercises and quizzes on mobile phones. A separate project in Mali delivers lesson plans and curricular materials teachers through a simple, yet functional internet portal.
These projects, among others, are detailed in the newly released papers about mobile learning in Africa and the Middle East, part of UNESCO’s Working Paper Series on Mobile Learning. The Series scans the world to provide concrete examples of how mobile technologies respond to unique educational challenges in different contexts, how they supplement and enrich formal schooling and make learning more accessible, equitable, and personalized.
