ED Commission - Room II

The Education Commission will examine twelve items on the agenda of the General Conference, address education-related issues emanating from the conclusions of the 8th UNESCO Youth Forum, discuss Education for All beyond 2015, present UNESCO’s follow-up to two United Nations Decades and consider Major Programme I Education, in the Draft Programme and Budget for 2014-2017 (37 C/5).

The Commission will also examine specific items such as: educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab territories; the revision of statutes of education-related category 1 institutes, the establishment of category 2 institutes and centres, the revision of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) and of three education-related normative instruments. Reports from Category I Institutes will be presented by the Chairpersons of their respective governing bodies.

5.19     Follow-up of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development post-2014 – Global Action Programme

5.20     Implementation of the United Nations Literacy Decade (2003-2012) and specific recommendations for the post-Decade period

6.5       Proposals for revision of statutes of education-related category 1 institutes

8.3       Preliminary study on the technical and legal aspects relating to the desirability of a global standard-setting instrument on the recognition of higher education qualifications

8.4       Preliminary study on the technical and legal aspects relating to the desirability of revising the 1976 Recommendation on the Development of Adult Education

8.5       Preliminary study on the technical and juridical aspects relating to the desirability of revising the 2001 Revised Recommendation concerning Technical and Vocational Education
