Manu Dibango

The famous Cameroonian musician Manu Dibango was appointed UNESCO Artist for Peace in May 2004, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of arts, peace and dialogue among cultures throughout the world.

He tirelessly defends artists' copyrights, particularly in Africa, and supports the fight against piracy of musical works.

In May 2004, he participated in the inaugural concert of the International Day of Africa at UNESCO Headquarters. Mr Dibango supports the campaign for the promotion of a culture of peace in Africa.

In January 2010, Manu Dibango participated with 50 other famous musicians and singers in a charity concert "Pour Haïti" in Paris.
