HRH Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in July 2001, in recognition of her commitment to improve the conditions of children’s lives.

In her capacity as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, H.R.H. Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco promotes the education of girls and underprivileged children through numerous conferences and events in Morocco and across the world.

At the United Nations Headquarters, H.R.H. Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco delivered the inaugural speech at the Arab-African Ministerial Conference for the preparation of the World Summit for Children.

In October 2002, she organized a Euro-Mediterranean conference in Marrakech entitled "Children's rights and human security in the Euro-Mediterranean area".

In addition, as part of the Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child by the Kingdom of Morocco, she chaired in December 2013 the first edition of the Youth Convention on the theme "The safety of the child is everyone's business".
