Vera Michalski-Hoffmann was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in October 2016, in recognition of her commitment to the publishing community, her support for literary creation and the practice of reading, particularly through activities carried out by the Jan Michalski Foundation.

As UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Ms Michalski-Hoffmann supports UNESCO's actions in the field of books and reading, particularly in the context of the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day and the World Book Capital Program.

In April 2017, Ms. Michalski-Hoffmann traveled to Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea, to participate in the launch of this city as World Book Capital for the year 2017. This event took place in the framework of the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day, to promote and celebrate books and reading.
