Viet Nam Youth Forum 2012 “I look for a fulcrum”
Ha Noi, 17 July - Today marked the opening of the Viet Nam Youth Forum 2012, with the theme “I look for a fulcrum”. This theme comes from Archimedes, who said: “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world”.
The UNESCO Youth Forum brings together young delegates from all over the world to exchange views, share experiences, reflect together and, above all, identify common concerns. The event allows young people to voice their ideas and to make suggestions directly to the UNESCO General Conference, the Organization’s governing body with over 190 Member States. The Viet Nam Forum encourages students determination to take initial steps to implement plans as well as projects in their lives for addressing common concerns in their communities and the world. The forum received the support from the Embassy of the United States, the Viet Nam Centre for Economic and Policy Research, Viet Hung Food Industry Co. Limited, UNICEF, UNESCO and others.
Speaking on behalf of the United Nations in Viet Nam, Katherine Muller-Marin shared with young students that UNESCO holds a Youth Forum every two years prior to UNESCO's General Conference.
