At the request of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), UNESCO is currently assisting in the development of a comprehensive leadership training programme that aims to build the capacities of senior officials to implement and manage policies that are gender sensitive and inclusive and that assure equitable access to education.
The programme contains three component outputs:
- A desired profile for senior education managers that includes a description of functions and responsibilities and corresponding knowledge, skills and attitudes
- An internal MOET analysis of education management business practices
- Fourteen training topics developed as a result of capacity gap analysis
UNESCO has worked with MOET to pilot two of the modules training modules—Negotiation Skills and Strategic Planning/Results Based Management—and plans to pilot two in the remainder of 2011: i) Participatory planning, management and organizational development and ii) Talent management and maximizing staff productivity.
