Report on UNESCO-SADC Cooperation published

The UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA) has published a report on UNESCO’s cooperation with the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) in 2017.

The publication showcases joint activities and initiatives implemented by the two Organisations in 2017 to deliver sustainable development in the region.

UNESCO and SADC, have a long history of cooperation. They have an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which was signed in 1996. In 2017, they embarked on the establishment of a Joint Programme of Action which provides concrete areas of cooperation, including: education; technical and vocational education and training (TVET); youth; HIV and health education; science, technology and innovation; water security, renewable energy and disaster risk management; culture and tourism development; communication and information; and data for  development.
