UNESCO donates equipment for Education Ministry’s information systems
Zimbabwe Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education to scale up information efficiency.
On 15 July 2009, UNESCO office in Harare donated information technology equipment to the Zimbabwe Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education to enable government to scale up efficiency and effectiveness in Management of Information Systems in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education. Attended by senior officials from the ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, the Zimbabwe National Commission for UNESCO, the Working Group on Education Policy Support and UNESCO Harare staff, the handover ceremony was held at the UNESCO Harare premises.
The donated equipment, which comprises seven desktop computers, flash drives, UPS power stabilizers, printers and several computer consumables, is expected to go a long way in promoting quality management of information. Using the donated equipment, the ministry will undertake a baseline study as part of efforts to enable quality data collection and processing.
UNESCO’s support is expected to assist not just the information management initiatives but also benefit the entire Zimbabwean education system. UNESCO supports national decision-makers in developing solid and relevant education policies and strategies and in managing their effective implementation.
