Valorisation of Evidence on Inclusive Social Development in Southern Africa Project to be launched in Malawi

UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA) in partnership with the Institute for International Cooperation of the Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V. (DVV) and the German Adult Education Association will launch the project on Valorisation of Evidence on Inclusive Social Development in Southern Africa on 19th June 2019 in Lilongwe, Malawi. The project inception workshop will bring together key stakeholders to launch the National Working Group for the project and agree on modality of its work.

Funded by the Malaysian Funds-in-Trust, the project aims to build national capacities to understand the challenges of social inclusion, and to improve the availability, accessibility and usage (valorization) of research and evidence for inclusive policy and planning in southern Africa. It will support the Malawian government in the development and implementation of inclusive policies, particularly the Adult Literacy and Education (ALE) which is currently targeted by this project. The project will also introduce the methodology and inclusive development process to two other countries in the region, namely Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

Having already successfully delivered this initiative in Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, UNESCO will expand the research and capacity-building activities to benefit Southern African countries. As such, the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia will be represented at the launch to share experiences of work done in Malaysia.
