Who is who?

Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng, Senior Science Programme Specialist

Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng is the Senior Science Programme Specialist and also serves as the Coordinator of the African Network of scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI). Dr Oti-Boateng has over 32 years working experience in teaching, research and development of technologies for sustainable development and STI policy.  As UNESCO Senior Advisor for Africa on Science, Engineering and Technology and ANSTI coordinator she provides technical assistance and support to the African Union Commission, regional economic blocks, member states and universities in the promotion of STI policies and access to knowledge; mobilization of broad-based participation in STI and; human resource and research capacity building in basic and engineering sciences and renewable energy, with a passion for promotion of gender in science and engineering. Dr Oti-Boateng holds a PhD degree from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and a BSc Degree in Biochemistry from KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana.

Ms. Tendai Murenga, Programme Assistant

Ms. Tendai Murenga is the Programme Assistant for the Natural Sciences Sector. She has over 12 years working experience in office administration in intergovernmental organizations and has also worked for the Embassy of Israel in the same field. Ms. Murenga holds a BSC Honours Degree in Office Administration and Technology from Chinhoyi University (Zimbabwe). She also holds a Diploma in Office Administration and a Private Secretary Diploma. 

Ms. Muchaneta Munamati, Water Consultant

Ms. Muchaneta Munamati joined UNESCO in September 2016 as a consultant in water resource management. Her interests include water resource management, technologies for wastewater containment, treatment and reuse, soil-water management, sanitation monitoring and performance appraisals and emerging issues such as climate change and its impacts on sustainable development.  She holds an Msc in Integrated Water Resources Management from the University of Zimbabwe and is currently pursuing her PhD studies in sanitation at the same university. She also has certificates in environmental management and project management. Ms. Munamati has written a number of papers in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
