Sulaymaniyah Museum opens its first exhibition halls to the public
The Sulaymaniyah Museum inaugurated a first section of its renovated exhibition halls displaying part of its rare and precious collection of historical objects embedded with ancient scripts. The "In Writing" exhibition comes as a new milestone in the modernization project of the museum, which was initiated in 2010 with the technical support of UNESCO. The opening was also the occasion for UNESCO to reveal the Museum's new Master Plan and architectural brief.

Entrepreneurship courses start at the TVET centres in Kurdistan
After several months of preparation, UNESCO Office in Iraq and the Ministry of Labour and Social affairs (MOLSA) in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Monday 6 May 2013 the start of the courses planned in the framework of “Fighting Youth Unemployment through Education".

Celebrating freedom: Media to empower women in Iraq
As part of this year's World Press Freedom Day, and with the aim to highlight the different aspects of the relationship between media and women's rights in Iraq, the United Nations in Iraq organized a roundtable discussion attended by international and national stakeholders, the first platform of its kind towards empowering women in and through the Iraqi media.
