Country Programming

UNESCO’s interventions in the countries rely on the four key cooperation principles: a) ownership by the Member States and alignment with national plans while fostering implementation of the 2030 Agenda and other main global agreements; b) effective and efficient support to the national priorities within UNESCO’s C/4 and C/5, c) flexibility and d) cooperative work with other UN agencies and development stakeholders.

UNESCO Jakarta has a dual role as the Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific as well  as a Cluster Office  covering all areas of UNESCO’s mandates: education, natural and human sciences, culture, communication and information in Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste. Our strategic programmatic work in each of the five countries are detailed in the UNESCO Country Strategy documents.
