Disabled people, UN representatives and private individuals joined the celebrations of the Human Rights day at Pondok Indah Mall on Monday, 10 December 2012.

To help increase awareness of the rights of people with disabilities, the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in collaboration with Thisable Enterprise organised a day-long special event at Pondok Indah Mall in South, including workshops, musical performances, photo exhibitions and a talk show.

Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Deputy Director of ILO Indonesia remembered participants that we can all do something for the inclusion of people with disabilities and that inclusion starts at home. With the slogan ‘My Voice Counts’ this event showed to shoppers at Pondok Indah mall that people with disabilities are an active part of society.

The celebrations started early in the morning with four stands displaying technologies for people with hearing impediment, cupcakes made for the occasion, a stand where by-passers could have their face sketched and a stand dedicated to show previous inclusive activities and paintings. This was followed by art and music performances and a talk-show presented by Ms. Febrina Stevani.
