World Teacher’s Day 2018

02.10.2018. UNESCO Jakarta in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoEC) and Culture, and the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO organizes a National Workshop on SDG4-Quality Education in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day 2018, on Tuesday 2nd October 2018. Taking place at the Ministry of Education and Culture meeting hall, the event was participated by around 400 participants representing the Ministries and Government Institutions, universities, school teachers, international organizations, civil society organizations, international schools, provincial and district government, and media.

The event was officially opened by the Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy. In his remarks, Mr. Muhadjir expresses his appreciation for the partnership with UNESCO and the National Commission for the 1st initiative to organize World Teacher’s Day event in Indonesia. This event is very important for all teachers and education personal in Indonesia in which they have become part of global movement and action to become qualified teachers and education personnel.

Dr. Mee Young Choi, represents the Director and Representative of UNESCO Jakarta in her remarks congratulates the government of Indonesia, in particular the Ministry of Education for their active contribution and work to improve the quality of teachers in Indonesia. UNESCO recognizes this work as the Ministry of Education and Culture through its section, Directorate General for Teachers and Educational Personal, is one of the laurates UNESCO-Hamdan Prize 2018.

Ms. Christine Hakim, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador was also present in the event and had opportunity to motivate and cheer up the teachers who came from all over in Indonesia.

The event presented prominent speakers from government institutions, universities and outstanding teachers of ECCE, Basic and Secondary Education, and teachers from the borders and disadvantages presenting their innovation, creativity, strategy, planning and program aiming at qualified teachers and quality education 2030.
