Workshop held in Biratnagar on Education Delivery in Future Federal Nepal

The UNESCO office in Kathmandu in collaboration with the Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) of Morang district organized a two-day training workshop on education delivery in future federal Nepal on 13 and 14 August in Biratnagar. The workshop was organized under the UNESCO / UNPFN project on “Planning Effective Delivery of Education in Federal Nepal”.

All together 20 journalists from the community radios of nine districts of Eastern development region namely Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Terathum, Siraha, Saptari, and Udayapur participated in the program. Tap Raj Pant of the UNESCO office in Kathmandu, Anil Khanal and Subas Khatiwada from the ACORAB Nepal and Krishna Malla, education journalist were the facilitators of the program.

The main objective of the program was to impart knowledge on radio journalism on education for fostering peace in future federal state through radio talk shows and phone in programs. It further encourages discussion and debate about education in federal state.

Tap Raj Pant discussed about the objectives and achievement of the “Planning Effective Delivery of Education in Federal Nepal “project while Krishna Malla focused on problems in education system. He also urged on changing the education system from traditional to scientific method. Also other two facilitators Subas Khatiwada and Anil Khanal shared framework of radio talk show program.  

During the program, participants were made to identify potential issues for radio talk show and debate about program on their respective themes.
