Vacancy notice- Administrative Assistant

The UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is implementing the projects “Planning Effective Delivery of Education in the Future Federal State” and “Increasing the safety of Journalists” with funds from the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF) through the United Nations Peace Fund for Nepal (UNPFN).

The UNESCO Office in Kathmandu seeks applications from qualified Nepali candidates for the following position:

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent shall perform administrative and finance functions, under the overall authority of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and UNESCO Representative to Nepal, and direct supervision of the Chief of the Administration and Finance Unit.

In particular, s/he shall: 

1.     Assist in the preparation execution and monitoring of the project budget;

2.     Carry out day to day budgetary and financial operations;

3.     Monitor the project’s financial performance;

4.     Manage procurement of supplies and assets;

5.     Contribute to organize the documentation of the Administration and Finance Unit;

 

Qualifications required:

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

1.     Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in accountancy or business administration, or equivalent training; 

2.     3-5 years of experience of working in the area of administration, finance and logistics management, preferably with a UN agency or an INGO; 

3.     Good understanding of accounting and financial management of an international development agency;

4.     Excellent skills of computer applications (Word, Excel and Database)

5.     Very good written and oral communication skills in Nepali and English;
