Vacancy notice - Driver cum Messenger

The UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is implementing the projects “Planning Effective Delivery of Education in the Future Federal State” and “Increasing the safety of Journalists” with funds from the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF) through the United Nations Peace Fund for Nepal (UNPFN).

The UNESCO Office in Kathmandu seeks applications from qualified Nepali candidates for the following position:

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent shall provide driving services and carry out messenger functions, under the overall authority of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and UNESCO Representative to Nepal, and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Administrative and Finance Unit.

In particular, s/he shall: 

1.        Provide day to day driving services including on missions outside the Kathmandu Valley;

2.        Carry out daily routine maintenance tasks of assigned vehicle;

3.        Collect and deliver documents and other materials.

 

Qualifications required:

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

a)     Valid driving license categories A and B;

b)     Thorough knowledge of driving rules and regulations;

c)     3-5 years of experience in driving, preferably with a UN agency or an INGO;

d)      Working knowledge of English.
