UNESCO is taking part in the 58th session of the Commission on the Status of Women which aims to take stock of progress and remaining challenges in the lives of world’s women and girls. Participants which include representatives from UN entities, Member States and over 800 civil society organizations come together annually to review the access and participation of women and girls in education, science and technology, as well as to promote women’s equal access to employment opportunities. The meeting held in New York from 10-21 March is taking place less than 700 days from the target date set to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
