The Director-General of UNESCO, Ms Irina Bokova designated the famous Mexican writer and pubic figure, Andrés Roemer as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Societal Change and the Free Flow of Knowledge during an official ceremony, which took place at UNESCO Headquarters on 8 September 2017.

This title was bestowed upon Mr Roemer in recognition of his commitment to promoting free and pluralistic societies as a contribution to peace and human rights.
