A’Salfo: Lyrics for Literacy
The famous singer from Côte d'Ivoire and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Salif Traoré ( A'Salfo ), supports UNESCO’s initiatives in the field of literacy.
Savoir. Composed by Salif Traoré himself, this single is dedicated to education, especially in Africa, and the importance of sending children to school.
Artists such as Didier Awadi (Senegal), Pierrette Adams (Côte d'Ivoire/Democratic Republic of Congo), Alif Naaba (Burkina Faso), Barbara Kanam (DRC), Oumar Ndiaye (Senegal), Greg Ingrao (France), Narcisse Sodoua (France) and others have been mobilised by Salif Traoré for this project and gathered in Abidjan to record the single "Knowledge" and the video clip that accompanies this single.
The launch of this single is scheduled to take place at UNESCO Headquarters (Paris) on 9 September, on the occasion of the celebration of International Literacy Day and the awarding of UNESCO’s Literacy Prizes that will be honouring programmes implemented in Côte d'Ivoire, Namibia, Chad, Bangladesh and India.
The profits of the single and its video clip will go towards UNESCO literacy projects.
Salif Traoré was designated as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador on 6 September 2012 . He is also the pioneer of the Festival des Musiques Urbaines d’Anoumabo (FEMUA), which is the first international musical festival in Côte d'Ivoire. It gathers over a period of three days the best artists in the world and seeks to play for the disadvantaged in Côte d'Ivoire and all over the world.
