Countess Setsuko Klossowska de Rola, UNESCO Artist for Peace, attended as guest of honour the Hagamoro fashion show

The painter Countess Setsuko Klossowska de Rola, attended in her capacity of UNESCO Artist for Peace, the fashion show "Hagomoro - the beauty of Japan and its kimono dresses", at the House of UNESCO in Paris on 21 September 2018.

The Japanese costume designer, Eiko Kobayashi, also President of the Association Be-Japon, in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of Japan to UNESCO, has showcased haute couture dresses inspired by traditional kimonos.

This show "Hagoromo" which can be translated as "celestial clothing" or "feather dress", takes the codes of the Nô theatre reinvented in a mixture of tradition and modernity.

H. E. Mr Takio Yamaka Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO, emphasized in his message that the event took place in the framework of the 160th anniversary of relations between Japan and France and that it was an opportunity to promote Japanese culture to a wide audience.

Thanks to her interest in the cause of cultural heritage, Countess Setsuko Klossowska de Rola once again, in her capacity as UNESCO Artist for Peace, made the general public aware of the need to safeguard and promote the ancient Japanese cultural heritage.
