Director-General congratulates SDG Advocates

UNESCO Director-General warmly congratulates the 17 SDG advocates announced on 21 January 2016 by UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon ‎with Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway and President John Mahama of Ghana, during an event organized in a Davos highschool on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

"We need each one of these 17 champions‎ to mobilize the world around the most ambitious agenda ever adopted to end poverty, empower people and protect the planet. UNESCO is proud that our UN Goodwill Ambassador Forest Whitaker will bring his powerful message of peace and reconciliation to this group of champions. UNESCO looks forward to partnering with this passionate group to advocate and act together so that we deliver on this social contract for the world, on this promise for human dignity and the protection of our shared planet.  

The SDG Advocacy Group will be co-chaired by the Prime Minister of Norway and the President of Ghana. The 17 SDG advocates are:
