Earth Science for a lasting world
“Science flourishes through dialogue, through the interaction of people and cultures and through the meeting of minds,” said UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova at the opening of the conference held on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the International Geoscience Programme (IGCP).
“It prospers in a soil rich in diversity and a climate that favors exchange. Science cooperation lies at the heart of our work,” she continued highlighting the importance of IGCP.
The conference, opened by the Director-General and the President of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), Alberto Riccardi, brings together many experts from around the world in order to review the main achievements and challenges of the International Geoscience Programme and plan its future.
