Between 6 and 8 November the “3rd Ibero-American and 5th National Congress for Quality Education” will be held in Barranquilla, Colombia. The event will bring together academics, specialists, and education stakeholders to discuss issues that include international and regional agreements for the right to education in Latin America.

In association with the Congress, the Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE), which is spearheaded by OREALC/UNESCO, will hold its 31st National Coordinators’ Meeting in the same city on 4 and 5 November, with the goal of disseminating its work at discussion meetings on education quality in the region.

LLECE’s coordination team will play a major role at the congress, and a number of national coordinators will give presentations on issues of relevance to their countries’ education agendas. Specialists from OREALC/UNESCO Santiago will contribute a keynote discussion on the Education for All (EFA) agenda and the post-2015 debate, led by Atilio Pizarro, Head of Planning, Management, Monitoring, and Assessment at OREALC/UNESCO Santiago. A round table discussion of the Third Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (TERCE) will also be provided, chaired by the study’s technical coordinator, Moritz Bilagher. Mauricio Holz, technical assistant to the Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE), will also give a presentation on literacy and literacy measurement in the region.

“The linkage that has been formed thanks to the support of the conference for the coordinators’ meeting represents a fantastic opportunity to enrich discussions on education quality and quality assessment. That is why members of LLECE’s technical coordination team will make active contributions to discussions at the 3rd Ibero-American and 5th National Congress” said Mauricio Holz.

These activities are part of LLECE’s outreach and promotion strategy, aimed at fostering and generate partnerships as these discussion meetings and academic events, enriching discourse on education quality in the region and how it can be measured.
