Launching of the project for the comprehensive management and conservation plan for the ensemble of the Convent of San Francisco, City of Quito
On 16 November 2012, the Plan of Operations for the implementation of this initiative was signed in Quito (Ecuador) by UNESCO and by the Executive Director of the national Institute of Heritage, in the presence of the Ambassador of Italy to Ecuador.
The project, executed by the UNESCO Office in Quito, and funded by the Italian cooperation, has as strategic partners to the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, the Municipality of Quito, the Franciscan community, and the Heritage Coordinator Ministry.
The main objective of the project is the elaboration of a plan of integral management, composed of a series of components that will guarantee the balance between conservation and sustainable tourism, by engaging all concerned parties involved in its implementation, from the State to the Franciscan community.
