New skills leadership programme forms change makers
Experts in technical and vocational education and training gathered in Bonn for the launch of a ten-day flagship skills development programme on 17-28 October, 2016.
As part of UNESCO’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Strategy (2016 – 2021), UNESCO-UNEVOC launched its TVET Leadership Programme, the first of its kind to empower change leaders and promote a transformative vision of TVET.
In its first implementation, the UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme develops the capacity of mid- and senior-level TVET leaders from 20 countries to become effective transformational leaders through interactive, hands-on modules on vision and strategy, knowledge, and leadership and management skills that are required to effect change.
The overall goal of the programme is to move from strategies to action and capacitate leaders to be able to efficiently and successfully implement change in their institutions and countries.
By moving away from solely viewing TVET as a contributor to skills development, the leadership programme enlarges the vision of empowering individuals, enterprises and communities, strongly contributing to the transition towards sustainable societies and development.
The programme is carried out in collaboration with partner organizations such as the Asian Development Bank, ADENE Portuguese National Energy Agency, Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (Germany) (BIBB), Cedefop, German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), European Training Foundation (ETF), German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), JET Education Services, UNIDO and the Central Association of German Handicrafts (ZDH)) and includes a field trip to an industry partner (Lucas-Nülle).
