The launching of the project Strengthening of National capacities for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Aruba, which has the generous contribution of the Kingdom of Norway, will begin with the placing on-line of the web page that will give a continuous and systematic visibility to the activities that will take place, in the 4 countries, during the present biennium.

The Project includes the organization of Workshops on the Implementation on the 2003 Convention in the Dominican Republic, Aruba and Haiti. Training workshops will take place in Cuba and the Dominican Republic on how to make inventories and in both cases, field exercises on this issue will be implemented. Aruba as well as Haiti will receive advice on public policies regarding the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and at the end of the year 2013, a workshop will be held devoted to the preparation of Nominations to the Lists and Projects of the ICH with the participation of representatives of the 4 beneficiary countries.

Another activity of the Project is to achieve a wider degree of visibility to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage through the establishment of web pages and the reproduction of informational materials, as well as through the use of publications by the Office, Oralidad Journal, devoted to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in Latin America and the Caribbean and Culture and Development magazine.
