This Festival is dedicated to make the art of ballet accessible to all, especially the Cuban public, through representations, master classes and colloquia.

This year, the Festival celebrated the 75th Anniversary of Alicia Alonso's scenic début in "Giselle", by a representation of this famous ballet with the dancers of today's greatest world ballets. In addition to the National Ballet of Cuba troupe, the following ballet troupes were present: the Great Theater Ballet of Geneva, the National Ballet of Prague, the Danish Dance Theater, the American Ballet, the New York City Ballet and the Buenos Aires Ballet.

During the Festival, UNESCO's core values and principles for the promotion of peace, solidarity and friendship, were shared through the common language of dance among all dancers and participants from everywhere in the world.

An heartfelt tribute was paid to Alicia Alonso for her commitment to passionately defend and popularize the art of dance around the world.
