On 2 October 2013, the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, participated in the event "90 Minutes in Burkina Faso", at the invitation of Minister of Secondary and Higher Education, Moussa Ouattara.

This event was an opportunity to recall the tradition of dialogue, dear to Burkina Faso, the depth of its human and cultural wealth, its major role in promoting the link between culture and development by supporting cultural industries, as embodied in the Pan African Film Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), in which the Director-General participated this year.

"At a time when the world is looking for ways to live in peace and diversity, Burkina Faso, with its immense linguistic diversity, cultural and ethnic, offers many solutions," said the Director-General.

The contribution of eminent personalities from Burkina Faso to the work of UNESCO, such as that of the late Joseph Ki-Zerbo to the General History of Africa, was also highlighted.

The event was marked by a presentation of the cultural heritage.
