The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) launches IYC

IUPAC (in conjunction with the UN and UNESCO) have proclaimed that 2011 is to be the International Year of Chemistry (IYC).

IYC will officially be launched by the Cabinet Minister for Universities and Science Rt Hon David Willetts MP. The co-hosts will be Mark Lancaster TD MP, Andrew Miller MP and Dr Julian Huppert MP.

The Royal Society of Chemistry is the leading scientific society in building bridges between the scientific community and Parliament. 

Operating under its Royal Charter "to serve the public interest" the RSC undertakes a wide range of Parliamentary activity designed to offer assistance to MP's and Peers on all sides of both Houses at a time when more and more issues they face have a scientific aspect to them.
