The Sultanate of Oman contributes USD 2 million to UNESCO’s Emergency Fund
On 17 September 2012, H. E. Dr. Samira Mohamed Moosa Al Moosa, Ambassador of Oman and the Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova signed an agreement to formalize the USD 2 million contribution from the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to the Emergency Multi-Donor Fund.
Irina Bokova thanked Oman for this important support to UNESCO’s core programmes, and stressed her sincere appreciation for the support provided by the Arab countries during the current difficult financial situation that the Organization is facing.
Ambassador Al Moosa expressed her country’s deep commitment to UNESCO and confidence in the Organization’s actions and highlighted Oman’s contribution as a gesture of solidarity with UNESCO and an expression of support for its important work.
The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Mrs Zohour Alaoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to UNESCO and current President of the Arab Group in UNESCO, as well as H. E. Dr. Nassif Hitti, Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States to UNESCO.
